Thank you for showing an interest in our group! We are a diverse collection of people interested in historic preservation, so don't think you won't have anything to offer. Membership in the Society shall be open to all persons having an interest in the purposes of the Society.
Fundamentally, members participate and help with the project in two ways: by providing funding through donations and actively participating by either performing restoration labor on the locomotive and other railroad equipment or performing other administrative and public relations duties. All work is on a volunteer basis and all proceeds go directly into materials and services required to restore the locomotive. Members participate as much or as little as they are able. In fact, some of our out-of-state members drop-in and participate "hands-on" only a few times per year.

Whether you become an "active" or "passive" member of the Society, you will be helping drive this project to fruition.
It is quite simple to become a member. The steps are as follows:

First: choose the membership that is best for you:
Individual membership, $50.00 annually.
Family membership, includes all persons living at your residence, $80.00 annually.
Second: fill out our membership form electronically and email the form to secretary@nmslrhs.org

Please fill out our membership form either electronically or in writing and follow the directions on the form.

If you would like to work "hands-on" the locomotive, you must attend a Safety class. Safety classes are scheduled irregularly as the need arises, so check our Status page or contact us for current information. You will need your own personal safety equipment: a pair of OSHA-certified safety glasses and a pair of hard-toe safety work boots, and a YELLOW hard hat (available at the site for$20 or through the Buy Now button).
Details about the safety equipment items are covered during the safety briefing.
You must provide your own health insurance to work on-site.
Minors 14 to 17 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian present at the time of work or have signed consent to participate and consent for medial treatment forms on file with the NMSL&RHS.
